Innovations invests in BC arts, cultural and heritage organizations wishing to create new opportunities for community members to participate in arts and cultural activities.

The Innovations program provides funding for projects undertaken by BC arts, culture and heritage organizations, alone or in partnership, to create new opportunities for communities to engage in arts and cultural activity for a sustained period of time.

The Innovations program addresses the following objectives:

• To increase community engagement in creative activities
• To strengthen the arts sector’s ability to build artistic excellence
   

The most recent Innovations deadline for applications closed on Oct. 14, 2009. We will be reviewing all applications and advising successful recipients before year end. The new program categories that are now eligible for funding under the recently revised guidelines are listed below.

Funding is available in two categories:

• New Activity - the activity for which funding is being sought is new to your community. Guidelines for this area closely align with the former Creative Ventures category. If you were previously planning on applying to Creative Ventures review the guidelines for New Activity to see if you still qualify.
   
• Activity at Risk - the activity for which funding is being sought is a public presentation, in any discipline, between January and August 2010, that is at risk of being cancelled due to the loss of Direct Access funding in 2009. Restrictions apply so please see complete guidelines for more details.
