Chill

From 2005 to 2008, 2010 Legacies Now supported Chill, a snowboarding program for inner-city youth designed to increase self-esteem through sport.

Chill is a unique intervention program which helps inner-city youth, aged 12-24, develop self-esteem while learning to snowboard. From 2005 to 2008, 2010 Legacies Now supported the program’s operations in Vancouver and Prince George. During this time, over 650 youth participated in the program. Each week of the six-week program had a theme – patience, persistence, respect, courage, responsibility and pride – designed to arm youth with skills they can apply in everyday life.

For the 2009 season, 2010 Legacies Now is working our network of youth agency partners to consider new options for creating sport and recreation opportunities for inner-city youth in Vancouver and Prince George.
