Aboriginal Youth Sport Legacy Fund
The Aboriginal Youth Sport Legacy Fund supports programs which encourage BC's Aboriginal to participate in physical activity and sport.
Created in 2002, the Aboriginal Youth Sport Legacy Fund (AYSLF) has two grants which support athletes and programs to encourage BC's Aboriginal youth who to participate in sport and physical activity.
Community Grants
These $1,000 grants are awarded to communities, based on need, to increase their capacity to offer sport or physical activity programs for Aboriginal youth.

High-Performance Athlete Assistance Grants
This grant is available for amateur athletes of Aboriginal ancestry, including Aboriginal athletes with a disability, who require financial assistance in their pursuit of sport excellence. The amount of individual grants varies according to eligible applications received.
First Nations Snowboard Team
The Aboriginal Youth Sport Legacy Fund also supports the First Nations Snowboard Team, which uses sport to create a legacy of healthy, physically active youth who strive for personal excellence.
Founded in 2004, the First Nations Snowboard Team (FNST) offers two programs:
- Recreation program where youth can improve their snowboarding skills in a comfortable environment
- High-performance team which offer athletes training by a world-class coach
The team members receive free training, equipment and passes to various mountains. They must also commit to a drug- and alcohol-free lifestyle, a minimum C+ grade average in school, and 90 percent of the training schedule. For the 2008/09 season, the FNST has more than 140 youth in the recreation program and 24 athletes on the high-performance team. For more information, email FNSnowboard(at)squamish.net.

Administered by 2010 Legacies Now, the Aboriginal Youth Sport Legacy Fund was created in partnership by the Province of BC, Squamish Nation and Lil’wat Nation, and the Vancouver 2010 Bid Corporation.
Squamish and Lil’wat Nation and Province of British Columbia appointed the 2010 Legacies Now Society trustee for the BC Aboriginal Youth Sport Legacy Fund.
